Seven Generations golf tournament raises $728K

This year’s Seven Generations Energy Charity Golf Tournament was its biggest yet. The September 6th event at the Grande Prairie Golf and Country Club raised $728,000 for the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation and the Grande Prairie Regional College.

The hospital foundation has been a beneficiary of the golf tournament since it began in 2013, with more than $1.7 million raised between then and 2017. GPRC was added this year, and the total amount raised over the past six years has increased to more than $2.4 million.

“This tournament illustrates how we serve our stakeholders, working with our partners to make a difference in the community,” says 7Gen President and CEO Marty Proctor. “Our industry has faced a challenging economic downturn in the past few years, yet the energy community of the Peace Region continues to invest in health and education.”

Earlier this year, the hospital foundation bought a new $90,000 bus for the residents of Mackenzie Place, which was the first major purchase from the donated funds. The split of this year’s funds between the GPRH and GPRC has not been disclosed.
