A new section of trail has opened in Grande Prairie.
It runs from 68th to 76th Ave along the east side of 108th Street, and Jill McCord, Engineering Services Project Technologist for the City, says it’s meant to be a safer way for pedestrians to get to the Community Knowledge Campus.
“There was an accident last year at that location, which really brought it to the forefront of our minds to install something immediately. We’d like to see the whole length of the bypass eventually installed, but we’re doing sections at a time as land and budget permit.”
A section from 89th to 100th Ave has also been paved using layers of recycled concrete and asphalt, making it 1,800 metres of new trail for Swan City residents to enjoy.
