City looks to close deal on $2.4 mil land purchase

The city will soon have some new land in it’s ownership to use moving forward with potential social and seniors housing.

The land, which is 11.8 acres, is in the Smith Neighborhood on Park Road, 93 St, and borders the Rotary soccer fields to the north.

Community Living Director Gary Roth says administration will now get started with a site plan for the land, so they can start looking and funding.

“A lot of those projects would be funded by the province or other partners. I don’t have a set timeline as to when we could start construction on any type of project, this is really the first step to getting ready to make those applications for funding opportunities in the future.”
