All Peace Petroleum bought by UFA subsidiary

Not much is expected to change after the sale of a local oil and gas supply company. All Peace Petroleum out of Grande Prairie was recently bought by Bar W Petroleum and Electric, which is a UFA subsidiary.

All Peace Petroleum was founded in 1990 by former president Mike Brochu and has since grown to have a presence in northern Alberta, northeastern B.C. and the Northwest Territories. Brochu says the deal has been in the works since January 2018, but he and his partner Mike Benoit hadn’t thought much about selling before that.

“It was never a plan of ours. I think we always thought further down the road, maybe in 10 or 15 years from now that would be a plan. The opportunity came around and we saw it as being a good move.”

Brochu says All Peace and Bar W have been in business for almost the same amount of time and already share some customers in the downstream part of the petroleum industry. He believes the two are a great fit.

“Bar W Petroleum has a very good electrical division and a lot of long-time employees as well, so it’s just more resources for both of the companies,” Brochu explains. “None of the values and principles that All Peace has been based on for 28 years have changed and going forward we’re going to offer the same level of service.”

All employees of All Peace Petroleum in Grande Prairie have been kept on by Bar W, including Brochu who is now the general manager of both companies. He stresses customers likely won’t notice much of a difference, as they will be served by the same people.

The sale was finalized on August 22nd. The value has not been released.
