Grande Prairie reaches record low temperature

September in Grande Prairie has gotten off to a chilly start. Environment Canada records show a record low was set at the local airport on September 4th.

It reached as low as -2.2 degrees Celsius around 6 a.m., unofficially breaking the previous record of -1.1 degrees set 66 years ago in 1952. The average low for September 4th in Grande Prairie is 5.6 degrees.

A frost advisory for the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview region was issued the afternoon of September 3rd, which was lifted around 4:30 a.m. on the 4th.
