Deadline to apply for grant money approaching

The deadline for non-profit groups in the area to apply for grant money is almost here. The County is encouraging groups to apply for money to help upgrade their facilities before the September 15 deadline. Parks and Recreation Manager Christine Rawlins says the County has made the application process easier and more user-friendly.

“The new application process for the Recreation and Culture Grants Program is simple, streamlined and easier than ever, both for the County and community groups.”

The capital assistance grant program gives money to non-profit organizations that provide recreational, sports and cultural opportunities to County residents, who want to renovate or upgrade existing facilities or build new ones.

Other organizations that have received grants in the past include the Beaverlodge Boys and Girls Camp Society and the Sexsmith & District Agricultural Society which has helped cover the cost of renovations.

Groups can apply for up to 50 percent of the total cost of a project, to a maximum of $50,000. Applications will be accepted online until September 15.
