A special air quality statement is back in effect for the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview region. Environment Canada says smoke is expected to reach the area by Saturday afternoon.
Currently, southwestern Alberta is blanketed in thick smoke from the B.C. wildfires. It’s expected to spread east, heading as far north as the Peace country.
Coming with it would be reduced visibility and poor air quality. People may experience symptoms like coughing, throat irritation, headaches and shortness of breath.
