Gas leak in Grande Prairie caused by car crash

A 28-year-old driver from Edmonton is facing multiple charges after a car crash caused a gas leak at a home on 96 Street and 72 Avenue.

At around 4:45 p.m. on August 18, Grande Prairie RCMP was called to the home where a vehicle had gone through a fence, hit the house and damaged the home’s gas meter causing a gas leak.

Nearby homes were evacuated and the area was closed to the public until ATCO arrived to fix the meter. The home itself was not damaged.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
