GPS leads police to stolen equipment

GPS and satellite imagery are being credited with helping RCMP find stolen heavy equipment from Beaverlodge. Mounties in the town reached out to their counterparts on the other side of the B.C. border on August 14th, after the two skid steers were tracked to the Dawson Creek area.

“Utilizing satellite imagery an approximate location was determined and police located yellow skid steers that matched the description of the stolen machines,” says Corporal Madonna Saunderson. “During the investigation, police also recovered four pickup trucks, believed to be stolen, as well as other suspected stolen property.”

RCMP say they have arrested two men known to them in connection with the thefts. They’re still in custody and an investigation continues.
