Grande Prairie wildfire hazard bumped to high

The wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie Forest Area is back up to high. Wildfire information officer Kelly Burke urges people to call 310-FIRE if they see smoke or a wildfire in a forested area.

“Strong winds will make fire ignitions more likely and wildfires may spread quickly. Please continue to exercise caution,” she says.

A fire advisory remains in place for both the forest area and the County of Grande Prairie. No new fire permits will be issued for heavy fuel or non-essential burning.
