Food truck fridays begin this week in Grande Prairie

There’s a new spot for lunch on Fridays in Grande Prairie. The first ever Food Truck Fridays event kicks off this week at the Mamawe Concourse. Revolution Place General Manager Scott Clark says there will be a variety of different food options for people to chose from.

“This Friday I believe we have six maybe seven food trucks showing up so we’ve got a good cross-section of lunch and desert type options.”

The trucks can be found by the Montrose Cultural Centre every Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the month of August. Clark says that the new event was created as a way to take advantage of the new space surrounding the centre.

“We’ve been looking for new ways to utilize our new concourse area on the south side of the Montrose Cultural Centre and we were really happy with the Rib Fest event we did a couple of weekends ago and now step two is Food Truck Fridays.”

If this year’s event goes well, Clark says he will look at making Food Truck Fridays an annual event.

“We’re really looking forward to it. We think it will be a nice addition to the area and to that facility and we’re looking forward to seeing what the crowds look like and doing some evaluation in the fall when it’s all said and done and start to plan for 2019.”

Updates on what trucks to expect each week will be posted on the ‘Food Truck Friday’ listings at CityofGP.com/Events.
