Stantec helps out Cool Aid Society in Grande Prairie

Stantec employees across the country are rolling up their sleeves to help out in their communities today, and in Grande Prairie, they volunteered at the Cool Aid Society.

Nancy MacDonald, sector leader for community development in our region, says this is the second annual Stantec in the Community Day.

“A very important part of what we do at Stantec is we design for community; we design with community in mind, so part of the reason that we’re doing this is a way to give back to that community that we always work for. So, we’ve gone out across all the different offices all across North America.”

Stantec itself is a community of consultants that specialize in engineering, architecture, and planning.

MacDonald says they chose the Cool Aid Society as they give back to the community themselves.

“They give back to the community by having an after school program for kids. They have kids starting all the way from Kindergarten all the way up to grade 12. It’s a drop-in centre, serves the surround community, and it’s a place where we felt we could help out.”

Employees spent the morning fixing up stairs and railings and building shelving units at the office.
