New fishing pond open at County Sportsplex

There’s a new fishing hole in the Grande Prairie area. The County has spent $15,000 to turn the stormwater management pond on the east side of the Crosslink County Sportsplex parking lot into a fishing pond.

“The addition of the fishing pond provides a new dimension to recreational opportunities at the Crosslink County Sportsplex for area residents,” says Parks and Recreation Manager Christine Rawlins. “With the installation of a new dock and signage, we expect that angling and fishing hobbyists of all ages and skill levels will come and test out the waters.”

Earlier this spring, the Alberta Conservation Association tested the water and determined the pond would be ideal for recreational fishing. It has been stocked with 2,200 Rainbow Trout, which the association will restock each year.

For more information on the pond or about fishing regulations for the pond, visit the County’s website.
