Local agents looking to continue bus and courier service

Plans are in the works to continue passenger and freight service after Greyhound pulls out of Grande Prairie. Locally, Greyhound is run by Metobe Transport, which says it has teamed up with Coldshot Courier Services out of Edmonton.

Metobe Transport declined an interview until it has all of the details figured out. However, it has issued a letter to customers letting them know that once Greyhound closes at the end of October, they will be taking over.

“We’re here to let you know not to count us out and to keep shipping with Greyhound as you have in the past. When October comes we will change over to Coldshot without any disruption in service; new name and shipping systems but the same great people serving you today.”

Bill Fehr with Metobe says the depot and courier phone numbers will stay the same, but the service will be run out of a new, undisclosed location. He adds that they’re planning to increase service by running smaller shuttles more frequently, as well as earlier freight arrivals.

“We will have the power to make changes based on our customer’s actual needs and not what a big corporation thinks that might be. We are taking the corporation aspect out of the equation and letting your local agents service you directly on a one on one basis. Problems can and will be fixed.”

Fehr tells 2day FM the details should be finalized within four to six weeks.
