Jim Prentice to be sworn in as premier Monday afternoon

Jim Prentice will be sworn in as the 16th premier of Alberta Monday afternoon.

Prentice claimed 77 per cent of the vote in the leadership race against Thomas Lukaszuk and Ric McIvor earlier in September.

He and his new cabinet will be sworn in at a ceremony at Goverment House in Edmonton starting at 1 p.m., and Albertans can watch online at Alberta.ca.

Premier Dave Hancock will also be on hand as he relinquishes his role.

No word yet on whether local MLAs Wayne Drysdale or Everett McDonald will have any new responsibilities.
