Range Road 62 work heading south

The closure on Range Road 62 in Clairmont is moving south. Starting Tuesday, it will be shut down north and south of 150 Avenue as work continues installing an underground wastewater pipeline.

It’s expected this phase will be done mid-August. In the meantime, drivers can detour using 162 Avenue or 158 Avenue. For the past month, work was between 84 Avenue and 70 Avenue near the Crosslink County Sportsplex.

The sanitary forcemain is part of the Clairmont Lagoon Discharge Project, which will connect Clairmont’s wastewater collection system to Aquatera’s larger system in Grande Prairie. Clairmont’s lagoon is over capacity, and the work should also increase capacity for more growth in the northwest section of Grande Prairie.

In total, the lagoon project has a budget of $17.3 million and local company Mainline Construction was awarded the contract a year ago.
