Amazing Race Food Challenge kicks off food drive

Ecole Nouvelle Frontiere students, along with Freson Brothers and a number of other community sponsors got the ball rolling this morning for next week’s Salvation Army Food Drive.

Amazing Race Food Drive Coordinator Louis Chabot says Freson Brothers hosted the challenge, which raised more than $6000 worth of food in 30 minutes.

“The nice thing for us is that the Salvation Army gives us a list of what they want and those are the items that we choose. That’s what they’d like to have and that’s what we bring over so they get more of what they are actually looking for.”

Chabot says the challenge is also a great opportunity to remind Grande Prairie residents to open their hearts and their cupboards next Tuesday.

“The easiest way to participate is have your food ready on Tuesday when we come to your door. If you know you’re not going to home at 4:30, have it on the handle of or door or right in front of the door and we’ll pick it up.”

The food drive is Tuesday, September 16, volunteers will be visiting every neighborhood across the city asking for donations, starting at 4 pm.
