Stolen vehicle found occupied

RCMP managed to find a stolen vehicle last week with two people inside. Members of the Western Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Team were patrolling the area of 103 Avenue and 110 Street in Grande Prairie on July 10th when they spotted the pickup truck in the Walmart parking lot.

Two suspects were arrested at the scene. A 21-year-old man from Grande Prairie and a 30-year-old woman from Fairview are both facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

“As our Crime Reduction Strategy continues to take effect, communities should see less crime in every category in every corner of this province,” says Corporal Chris Warren. “From January to April 2018, property crime in Alberta’s rural detachments have decreased 10 per cent compared to the same period last year.”

The man is also facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and three counts of failing to comply with his recognizance. He remains in custody, while the woman has since been released to be back in court on August 8th.
