Grande Prairie Safeway Walk for Muscular Dystrophy this Saturday

Muscular Dystrophy is a group of diseases that weaken weakens muscles over time, often leaving people unable to walk or speak, and can even be fatal.

Grande Prairie will be supporting those who face the daily challenges of a neuromuscular disorder this Saturday at the Safeway Walk for Muscular Dystrophy.

Fundraising and community development coordinator for Muscular Dystrophy Canada Rachael Chan says they’re hoping to raise both awareness and funds for the cause.

“It’s just a great family fun day out; a chance to meet people in the community – those affected by neuromuscular disorders – and just a great way to get the word out about Muscular Dystrophy and neuromuscular disorders, and how that affects people in Grande Prairie.”

Registration starts at 12:30 with the walk at 1:30, followed by refreshments and words from a local family with a young son who has been diagnosed.
