A Grande Prairie woman is among eight people arrested following a drug bust in the Town of Fox Creek. RCMP say they executed search warrants at two homes in the town on July 4th.
Their searches reportedly turned up heroin, meth, and cocaine, as well as drug packaging materials. Police also say they seized two loaded firearms and $11,460 cash.
The 27-year-old woman from Grande Prairie is facing 14 charges, including possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime less than $5,000, failing to comply with recognizances and several firearms offences. She remains in custody and will be back in court in Grande Prairie on July 16th.
The other seven people arrested were from Fox Creek.
Corporal Chris Warren says property crime from January to April in Alberta’s rural RCMP detachments has gone down 10 per cent compared to the same period last year. He attributes that to their Crime Reduction Strategy.
