County starting new road projects

More road work gets underway in the County of Grande Prairie this week. Township Road 730 from Range Road 63 to Range Road 64 north of Clairmont will be closed all day Thursday.

County crews will be doing repairs, and the road should reopen Friday. In the meantime, traffic will need to detour using Range Road 63 and Range Road 64 north to Highway 672 or south to Township Road 724.

Work is already underway repaving Range Road 121 from Township Road 704 to Township Road 710 near Rio Grande. Crews are building a new road from the bottom up, and finishing it with a layer of pavement. It’s expected to be done in early September.

Wednesday also marked the start of work paving Township Road 730 from Range Road 44 to Range Road 45 by Kleskun Hill, which should be done by early August. Crews also started on Range Road 61 from the Canfor Road to the existing pavement Wednesday. That should be complete by mid-September.

All projects are dependent on the weather conditions. Drivers are asked to watch for reduced speed zones and flag people.
