Trial for accused Prairie Mall shooter this week

The trial for the man accused in the Prairie Mall shooting is slated for this week in Grande Prairie. Liban Musse was charged with six offences, including reckless discharge of a firearm, after a single shot was fired in the mall food court on September 15, 2016.

Three people were injured, including two bystanders who were grazed by the bullet. An Alberta-wide warrant was issued for Musse’s arrest, and he was taken into custody in Calgary a week later.

At the time, police said an altercation at the mall led up to the shooting. Four other men from Grande Prairie were later charged in connection with the incident.

The trial is scheduled to run through Friday.
