Highway 43 twinning and repaving on track to be done this fall

All road construction project on Highway 43 in the Peace Region are still on track for their projected completion dates this fall.

The twinning through Sturgeon Lake First Nation, barring any significant weather delays, should be done by the end of the month.

Jasmine Franklin with Alberta Transportation says the repaving of Highway 43 between Bezanson and Clairmont is on schedule as well.

“We’re expecting that those repairs will be complete mid-October. Motorists will see some lane closures and speed reductions in that area. We’re just asking that they pay attention and please do obey those speed signs – those are in place for motorists’ safety and our crew’s safety – and once that’s all done we’ll have a smooth road.”

Franklin says this morning’s early snowfall will cause some delays, but doesn’t expect it to derail construction too much.
