The City of Grande Prairie is getting rid of two stop signs near the entrance to the Community Knowledge Campus. The north and southbound stop signs on Knowledge Way West near Charles Spencer School will be taken down on Tuesday, July 3rd.
Since they were installed, traffic has backed up onto 68 Avenue during peak times, increasing the risk of crashes happening. The speed limit along that stretch of 68 Avenue is 60 kilometres an hour.
Now that the school year is over, the signs are being removed in the hopes that drivers will get used to the change before classes are back in session in September. A stop sign will remain for westbound traffic on Knowledge Way South.
