City replacing Muskoseepi Park senior children’s playground

After the Canada Day long weekend, the senior children’s playground in Muskoseepi Park will be closed for the rest of the summer. The City of Grande Prairie will be installing a new playground structure and rubber fall tile surfacing.

Starting July 3rd, the old equipment will be removed, along with the playground sand and concrete curbing. The installation of the new structure will start in late August, and the rubber surfacing in September.

The work is expected to take until the end of September. In the meantime, fencing will be put up around the site and people in the area are asked to be careful around vehicles and equipment.

Once done, the playground for children ages five to 12 years old will be fully accessible and inclusive. A separate area with six swings is also being built, and the 620 square metre space will incorporate the existing climbing wall.

The junior playground and spray pad will stay open during construction. A grand re-opening is tentatively scheduled for October 2018.
