Local player taking part in Golden Knights development camp

A local hockey product has a chance to show his skills to the Las Vegas Golden Knights this week. The NHL team’s roster for their first ever development camp includes defenceman Reece Harsch.

The 19 year old was born in Grande Prairie and got his start in the city. He played with the bantam AAA Storm from 2012 to 2014 and then the midget AAA Storm for another two seasons.

Harsch was picked 170th overall in the 2014 Western Hockey League draft and has spent the past two seasons on the Seattle Thunderbirds. He notched 10 goals and 15 assists last season and won the WHL championship in 2017.

The Golden Knights camp kicked off Tuesday and will run through Saturday, June 30th. Harsch is one of 14 defencemen taking part.
