Fire advisory for Grande Prairie region lifted

The fire advisory for the Grande Prairie Forest Protection area is no longer in place.

One was issued back in May, when it was much drier, but significant rain and snow has reduced the wildfire hazard low enough to lift it.

Since the beginning of wildfire season there have been 55 wildfires in the region, that burned through 4,300 hectares.

All but one have been extinguished.

The fire advisory for the County was lifted last week.
