Philip J Currie Dinosaur Museum welcomes new President & CEO

The new President and CEO of the Philip J Currie Dinosaur Museum has officially arrived in Grande Prairie.

George Jacob will be handling the operations of the museum for at least the next three years.

Jacob has worked with museums in 11 countries during his 26 year career, but says the Philip J Currie Dinosaur museum is just as significant.

“The fact that Dr. Currie has lent his name to a wonderful institution like this is something to be proud of. I think, given that it’s a world class building, there is nothing that stops a smaller institution from making big strides.”

Jacob is Canadian and trained at the University of Toronto and Yale School of Management, but says this will be one of his first jobs on home soil.

“As one of the first, visible minority, Canadian Museologists, I’ve never really worked in Canada. One of the compelling reasons to take the job was to do something back in Canada.”

Jacob is known as one of the leading Canadian museum thinkers of our time, and has worked on projects like the Khalsa Heritage Complex in India and the National Museum of Saudi Arabia.
