No working smoke alarms in house fire

Four people have been left without a home after a fire in Patterson. A house on 74 Avenue and 96 Street was reported to be on fire around 3:40 a.m. Sunday morning.

Firefighters found flames coming out of a bedroom window and spreading to the attic. They were able to get into the home quickly and save a pet.

Everyone home at the time made it out safely, but it’s noted that the home didn’t have any smoke alarms.

“The Grande Prairie Fire Department would like to remind the citizens of Grande Prairie to have working smoke alarms as this fire could have easily resulted in injuries or death to the occupants.”
