Skate park expansion construction gets rolling

Construction on the Muskoseepi Park skate park expansion starts Monday. The City has budgeted $430,000 to put an addition onto the existing park that will make it roughly twice the size of the one next to the Eastlink Centre.

New Line Skatepark was hired to design and build the expansion, and multiple community consultations and online surveys have been held since last summer. The final plans include features that are meant for skateboarders as well as BMX bikers, inline skating, and parkour.

“The expansion will attract skateboarders from across Grande Prairie and surrounding area and will create an aesthetically pleasing environment that appeals to non-skateboarders,” the City says in a release.

Construction is expected to take until early September. The skate park will be closed in the meantime, and users are being sent to the Eastlink Centre instead.
