All programs at GPRC to start in September despite fire repairs

All programs and classes at Grande Prairie Regional College will start in September, even if the school hasn’t wrapped up repairs from a fire last month. Flames broke out on the roof of the B-Wing on May 25th, and access to the A, B, and C wings has been limited since.

GPRC says some parts of B-Wing are being completely rebuilt with new walls, flooring and equipment, while others only need cleaning and some repairs. Cleaning is also being done in the A and C wings.

The goal is to have most of the affected spaces re-opened by mid-August. That’s when the school will have to make a decision on whether the B-Wing will be ready for classes.

If not, the college says things will be moved around, but all programs will be running. There’s no estimate yet as to what the damage will cost.
