Canadian Tire Jumpstart looking to reach more Grande Prairie families

The Canadian Tire Jumpstart program is looking for help reaching more financially under privileged families in the area.

The local chapter has a budget of $137,000 for 2014 and has only spent about $31,000 of that so far this year.

Regional Jumpstart Manager Glenn McLean says that means they’ve helped 160 kids get involved in sport.

“We’d love to be able to have another 800 kids participate in some activities. Realistically, it’s a very large budget, we probably won’t get there this year, but we would likely get there over the next year. The more awareness that’s created, the more parents find out that this program is available to them in the community, the more likely they are to apply.”

Jumpstart is also looking to connect with more charitable organizations in the community to help them find and support more families that kind afford to enroll their children in organized sports.

McLean says families who are interested in checking out the program can pick up applications from the local Canadian Tire, or by calling 1-800-616-6600.
