Fire Department phone scam targeting Fox Creek residents

RCMP are warning of the public of a new telephone scam targeting Fox Creek residents.

RCMP say they have received reports of people posing as members of the Fox Creek Fire Department. The reports say the callers have been requesting money over the phone.

RCMP say the Fox Creek Fire Department will never contact residents over the phone to solicit money. They ask that anyone who may receive a call like this to contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fox Creek RCMP at 780-622-3740 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
