UPDATED:Landslide damages home in Peace River

UPDATED: Jenn Wright-Ford, the daughter of the homeowners, says they are stressed but no one was hurt. There was some damage to a deck and patio area after the “cliff slid into the side of their house.”

It was a scary wakeup for some Peace River homeowners. Just before 9 a.m. Wednesday morning the Peace River Fire Department responded to reports of a landslide in the Lower West Peace area. The neighbourhood runs right along the Peace River near the ski area.

Engineers from the Town of Peace River and Alberta Transportation are at the scene assessing the situation.

The town of Peace River says there was damage to the home but no one was injured. The slide has also closed the pathway along Shaftesbury Trail near the sea can bridge.

The town says more information will be provided when it becomes available.
