Aquatera to replace 1,750 water meters

Aquatera will be replacing water meters for 1,750 customers this summer. It’s part of the company’s Water Meter Exchange Program, which switches out old water meters for new ones once they reach their lifespan.

That typically takes around 20 years, and the replacement is free. This year, the eligible customers are in the City and County of Grande Prairie, as well as the Town of Sexsmith and Hamlet of Clairmont.

Account Services Manager Andrea Gallivan says the new meters will have high-resolution low-flow leak detection, an impact-resistant register, and should ensure cement ensuring more accurate readings.

“Our meter exchange program ensures continued accuracy of your water bill and improved reading efficiencies. In addition, with new technology we’re able to ensure better leak detection and pinpoint how much water was lost, and when, by logging data over a 90-day period. Detecting leaks early can potentially save customers hundreds of dollars.”

Neptune Technology Group has again been hired to do the exchanges. People affected should get a pamphlet in the mail that will let them know how to sign up.
