Warkentin in London on Prime Minister's trade mission

Peace River MP Chris Warkentin is busy this week taking part in a bi-lateral trade mission in London.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper, along with several members of parliament are hoping to promote new trade and investment opportunities between Canada and the UK.

Warkentin says he was asked to be a part of the delegation because he represents such a resource rich part of the country.

“The products that we produce, whether it be lumber, pulp, paper, it could be agricultural, it could be oil and gas. We’re always looking for places to export those products so that we can continue to get top world prices for the top products that we produce.”

Warkentin says it’s important for Canada to build stronger relationships with trade partners outside the US, as dependence on the States has hurt Canada in the past.
