McLaurin Baptist Church preparing to move to a new home

The McLaurin Baptist Church is looking to make it’s new home in the old Grande Bingo & Entertainment Centre on 107 Ave and 109 Street.

Phil Penner, who sits on the overseer’s council for the church, says not only does the building allow them room to grow, but it is in a great location.

“There’s a lot of high density residential near that location and the college is close by. We’re certainly a progressive and contemporary congregation, so we think the location is ideal.”

Penner says they’ve already worked out their plans for renovations to the building, which will allow them to grow.

“I believe it’s about a 300 seat sanctuary with quite a number of rooms that would facilitate Sunday School and kids clubs, those kinds of things.”

The city is considering rezoning the lot for religious assembly. If approved, the congregation will be able to move forward with their plans for the future of the building.
