Multiple construction projects underway this week

The city of Grande Prairie crews will be getting started on three different projects next week.

Road work will get underway in the Crystal Landing area Monday and the Cobblestone neighbourhood Thursday. Crews will be at Landing Drive and 88 Street from 100 Avenue to 104 Avenue, at 90 Street from 95 Avenue to 100 Avenue and at 96 Avenue from 90 Street to 92 Street. That work is all part of the city’s 2017/18 Road Rehabilitation and Overlay project.

Roads will be down to one lane and the speed will be reduced to 30 km/h.

Also beginning on Monday is the 2018 Sidewalk Program. This year work will start in the Crystal Ridge neighbourhood but will include a number of communities around Grande Prairie.

The sidewalk program will run until September.

Fencing will go up Monday around the area of the planned Richmond Storm Pond. The project is meant to alleviate flooding in the surrounding industrial area.

The city says 111A Street and 89 Avenue will have some minor construction traffic, but will remain fully open until work begins.
