Updated: Fire advisory lifted for Grande Prairie and area

UPDATE: The County of Grande Prairie has lifted their Fir Advisory effective Friday. They remind any residents that may have burning to do that it is not permitted if winds are over 12 km/h.

So far this season there have been 17 wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area. Alberta Wildfire says those fires have burned a total of about five hectares of land.

They also say that thanks to some cooler, humid weather the fire advisory for the area has been lifted.

Off highway vehicle drivers are still asked to check for hot spots and campers are reminded to never leave a fire unattended.

Fire bans do remain in place around much of the province, including in the mountain parks.
