Michel Lemay named new École St. Gérard District Principal

École St. Gérard will have a new leader this fall. Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools has promoted Michel Lemay from Assistant Principal to District Principal, effective the beginning of August.

Lemay has been the school’s assistant principal for the past four years, and has been with the school division for the past 15 years. In that time he has reportedly built a reputation for improving the school community and helping staff work best with their students.

“Michel has been with the district for many years and he continues to surprise us each year,” says GPCSD Superintendent Karl Germann. “He’s very community focused and driven; he wants to make a difference and it shows.”

“He’s a talented and caring individual,” adds Board Chair Michael Ouellette. “You can tell the moment you walk through the doors of St. Gérard. He’s there helping students out and making sure everyone is where they need to be.”

Lemay says he hopes to continue St. Gérard’s reputation, and share his French language and heritage with the community.
