Peace Region RCMP recover stolen property, charges laid

Two separate RCMP investigations have led to charges against two Peace River men.

A 20 year old was arrested after RCMP say they were called out to a reported break in where they believed items were taken from the vehicle on May 28th. Witnesses and video evidence helped RCMP identify a suspect, who was later taken into custody and will appear in court Wednesday.

Over the weekend Peace Regional RCMP also responded to reports of an speeding SUV. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, police say it fled at a high rate of speed and damaged a curb while trying to get away. RCMP says it was discovered the vehicle had been stolen from Grande Prairie.

A 19 year old man was charged with flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and driving while unauthorized. He is scheduled to appear in court July 9th.
