New traffic lights slated for downtown area

New traffic signals will be installed at the intersection of 101 Avenue and 98 Street. Work will start Monday to put in the pedestrian-activated signals, street lighting and a concrete pedestrian island.

Traffic will be reduced to 30 kilometres an hour, and drivers are reminded to follow all posted construction signs. The city adds drivers should expect some lane closures as work progresses.

According to the city, some on street parking may be affected at times during the construction. However, pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times. The new signals should be functional by mid-June.
