Hazardous waste collection coming up in County of Grande Prairie

Improper dumping of hazardous materials can contaminate land, water and the air we breathe. The County of Grande Prairie is teaming up with Alberta Recycling to collect these hard to dispose of items.

Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Demmitt Transfer Station residents will be able to drop off waste items. The transfer station is located 1.5 km southeast of Demmitt off of Range Road 131.

Items accepted include electronics, paint and other chemicals. The county says the leftover latex paint can be recycled into new paint. Electronics can be taken apart and recycled into new products as well.

The county adds if residents are unable to make this recycling event these items are accepted at many of their waste management facilities.
