Grande Prairie region’s wildfire danger increases to very high

The risk of a wildfire sparking in the Grande Prairie region has increased with the temperatures. Wildfire information officer Kelly Burke says the warmer weather and drying conditions have bumped the wildfire danger to very high.

“The existing Fire Advisory will remain in place for our area. Every precaution is needed to ensure no new wildfires are started placing additional strain on the province’s firefighting resources.”

Burke warns residents not to ride any off-highway vehicles in areas with a lot of grass and vegetation. A fire advisory is also in place for the County of Grande Prairie.
