Wildfire hazard elevated to 'Very High'

The wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie area has climbed to very high thanks to the windy dry conditions we’ve seen recently.

ESRD is asking everyone who works or enjoys the outdoors in the area to use extreme caution, to prevent sparking a wildfire.

A fire advisory is still in effect for the Grande Prairie Wildfire Management Area, meaning no new permits are being issued, though safe campfires are still allowed.

There have been 55 reported wildfires in our region since March, 28 of those have been caused by humans.
