Local museums celebrating International Museum Day

All three museums in the Grande Prairie area will be free Friday. The Grande Prairie Museum, Heritage Discovery Centre, and Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum in Wembley are celebrating International Museum Day with family-friendly activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

May 18th also marks the season opening of the Heritage Village at the Grande Prairie Museum, and the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie is hosting an opening reception for their new exhibit in the evening. Titled, “When Raven Became Spider”, it features the work of six contemporary Indigenous artists and storytellers.

Grande Prairie Transit and the dino museum will be offering a shuttle service to bring residents to each location. People planning to visit all three can also fill out a special passport and hand it in for a commemorative button.
