A fire in Patterson Place Thursday morning has done extensive damage to a family home. The Grande Prairie Fire Department was called to the corner of 80 Avenue and 94 Street around 8:35 a.m., and found smoke and fire already coming out of the basement.
A resident met firefighters outside and said a family member may still be in the basement. They immediately went on a search and recuse mission, but determined no one was inside. However, the family’s dog couldn’t be saved.
The fire department says it was able to bring the blaze under control quickly, but it caused extensive fire damage in the basement and smoke damage throughout the house. The cost estimate is not yet available, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
