Grande Prairie wildfire hazard drops to moderate

Wet weather has dropped the wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie Forest Area. Heading into the May long weekend, the danger is listed as moderate.

In addition to rain across the region Wednesday, Wildfire information officer Kelly Burke says humid and unsettled conditions are expected Thursday. However, fire danger levels are high to extreme in many parts of the province, and the government will keep monitoring the situation locally.

A fire advisory remains in place for the Grande Prairie Forest Area, as well as for the County of Grande Prairie. No new burn permits will be issued, but small campfires are still allowed.
