Info session on changes to 102 Street and 117 ave traffic flow

It’s the same story every year, once the spring thaw is over construction season begins. This year is no different. Multiple road projects will begin in the coming weeks around the region.

The city kicked things off with the closure of 100 Avenue downtown for Phase Three of the Downtown Rehabilitation Project. There will also be an information session held Wednesday to talk about the upcoming work at 102 Street and 117 Avenue. That is scheduled to run from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion in Muskoseepi Park.

The city says they will be installing concrete medians at the intersection. This upgrade stems from a traffic study done that was adopted by council in 2014 and will eliminate left hand turns from from the shopping complexes in the area. Some upgrades to lights were completed last year at 105 Street and 116 Avenue.

The Grande Prairie Chamber is also hosting an information session Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Centre 2000 that will include projects from around the region. Representatives from the city, county and province will be on hand.
