Big support for local charities from Alberta Blue Cross

A lot is going on within the walls of the new hospital. That’s according to Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation Executive Director Keith Curtis. He says it’s “amazing’ to tour the facility and watch it come together.

“It doesn’t look like much is happening but everything is happening inside. Sometime in ’19 we’ll get turnover. Sometime between ’19 and ’20 it will be open.”

Curtis was on hand as Alberta Blue Cross celebrated leaders in our region Monday night at the “Bat Cave.” Their President/CEO Ray Pisani talked about the importance of working together to build communities as he announced $10,000 donations to both the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation and The Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta.

Community Foundation Executive Director Tracey Vavrek says this type of support is “vital” to their organization.

“We’re fortunate we get to touch all the different sectors. If its children at risk, seniors support or if it’s education needs, that’s what The Community Foundation is there for.”

Vavrek says the money they received will go to support their outreach programs.
